About transfers of fixed assets

A fixed asset transfer occurs when a department gives an asset to another department or when an asset is moved from one branch to another.
For example, you might move a computer from one location or department to another, or change the owner of the building.

With Visma.net ERP, you can perform two types of asset transfer:
  • Individual asset transfer:
You can change the location of an individual asset in the Fixed assets (FA303000) window.
You can use this option to change the custodian of the asset or to move the asset within the branch.
The date of the transaction is the current business date.
For more information, see:Transfer an individual asset
  • Mass asset transfer:
You can transfer one asset or multiple assets from one location to another by using the Transfer assets (FA507000) window.
You can use this window for inter-branch transactions. Also, by using this window, you select the date and period of the transfer.
For more information, see:Mass-transfer fixed assets

When you transfer an asset in Visma.net ERP, the accounts and subaccounts to which the cost and depreciation were posted change to the new ones. Once the account is changed, all the actual costs and depreciations will be posted to the account and subaccount of the new location and owner of the asset.

All final asset transfers affect the general ledger.
After release, a historical record of the transactions is created.
You can view the details of this record on the Location history tab of the Fixed assets (FA303000) window, in the Transfers (FA640000) report, and on other reports.
