Manage tax agencies - overview
If your company buys or sells goods or services, it must report the appropriate taxes to the responsible tax agencies by filing the VAT reports regularly.
The tax authorities or agencies can exist at multiple levels.
For example: In most European countries the VAT rates are defined at the federal level and are the same in all territories, and in other countries there can be many zones with different taxes. It depends on the taxation system of the country. Thus, the tax agencies can have different reporting periods and different VAT rates.
Accordingly, the tax authorities or agencies to which you must report the taxes can exist at multiple levels that might have different reporting periods and different VAT rates. Thus, you may need to report the taxes to different tax agencies. For each tax agency, you need to create a separate tax agency account in Visma.net ERP and configure the applicable VAT report.
There are also some taxes (such as custom duties on imported goods) that you do not have to report.
The obligation to pay them arises as a result of a sale or purchase transaction.
These taxes must be paid directly to the tax agencies or to the suppliers authorised to collect specific taxes.
By using Visma.net ERP, you can pay taxes directly to tax agencies by creating the tax invoices or tax adjustments.
This chapter describes the process of creating tax agency accounts for both purposes: VAT reporting and direct paying of specific taxes. This topic contains the step-by-step instructions on creating a tax agency account and creating a tax invoice or adjustment in the system.
