About access rights to dashboards
In Visma.net ERP, you can allow users to manage dashboard pages, to view a dashboard, and to modify
widgets on a dashboard.
In this topic, you will read about access rights capabilities to
dashboard pages.
For more information about dashboard pages, see: About dashboard pages.

When you want to allow users to manage dashboard pages, you need to assign them a user role
with full access rights to the Dashboards (SM208600) window.
(For more
information on access rights, see About user access rights.)
Users with the
role that has full access to the Dashboards (SM208600) window can add and remove
dashboards, set up access rights to dashboards for user roles, select a user role that will
own a dashboard, change the locations of dashboards in the site map, and allow other users
to modify dashboards.
If you want a user who can manage a dashboard page to also be able to configure an original
dashboard (that is, make changes that are visible to all users who can view the dashboard),
you should assign this user the dashboard owner role.

An original dashboard can be configured by only a user with the role designated as the
owner role of the dashboard.
For predefined dashboards and dashboards created in previous
versions of Visma.net ERP, the default owner role is the predefined role DashboardDesigner.
You can specify
and change a dashboard owner role in the Dashboards (SM208600) window.
(For details, see: Add a new dashboard page.)
A user with a dashboard owner role can design the dashboard from scratch: Add and delete
widgets, arrange widgets, and modify widget properties.
A dashboard owner can also open the
Dashboards (SM208600) window and edit the dashboard properties if you provide the
owner role with access to this window.

For each dashboard, you can control which roles have the ability to view the dashboard by
using the Dashboards (SM208600) window.
(For details, see: Add a new dashboard page.)
Dashboards that were created by you or your colleagues can be located on any level of the
site map.
If a user does not have the access rights to view a dashboard, he or she will not
see it on the user interface.
For example: Suppose that you have created a dashboard and
placed it in the Inventory module on the same level as the workspaces.
For users who can view
the dashboard, its name appears on the main menu with the names of the workspaces.
Users who are not allowed to view the dashboard do not see this additional menu item.
If a dashboard is located on a workspace level (that is, it is opened when a user clicks the workspace name in the navigation pane) and you do not allow a user to view this dashboard, he or she sees a help topic that corresponds to this workspace instead of the dashboard.
The set of widgets that is displayed to the users who can view the dashboard depends on
their access rights to the windows from which the widgets' source data is taken.
If access to
the window is denied for particular users, they instead see a place-holder.
For example: Suppose that you added the following widgets to the home page dashboard: Invoices to
approve, which takes data from the Approve invoices for paymentApprove purchase invoices for payment (AP502000) window,
and Customer ledger balances, which takes data from the Supplier summary (AP401000) window.
When users who do not have access to the
Approve invoices for payment window log in to the system, they see only the Customer ledger balances widget and do not see the Invoices to approve widget on the
dashboard. If users have access rights for personalising dashboards (see the next section),
they can delete the hidden widget or change its properties.

For users who can view a dashboard, you can also control whether these users can
personalise the dashboard—that is, configure and modify the widgets of the dashboard.
To provide users with this capability, you need to select the Allow users to
personalise check box on the Dashboards (SM208600) window.
When users modify a dashboard to meet their needs, they work with a dashboard copy.
The
copy is created automatically by the system when a user begins to modify any widget on the
dashboard.
Users can reset their copies to the original dashboard.
For details, see: Configure dashboards - overview.
You also can reset all user copies of the dashboard at
once.
