How to set your standard e-mail program on your device

You can start sending an e-mail from Visma Advisor, but the mail will be sent by the e-mail program that is set as standard on your device. The program used to compose messages is determined by the Default Mail Handler on your device, which can be changed so that your preferred e-mail program will be opened instead. We recommend that you do this in the following order:

  1. Check the settings for your operating system.
Read more below under Operating systems.
  2. Go through the settings of your default email program.
Read more in the section that applies to you, either under Desktop applications or Web applications.
You can always try to test that your e-mail program opens from Visma Advisor by creating an email. If your e-mail program opens automatically from Visma Advisor, you have the correct settings. Read more in Send e-mail.

Operating systems

The standard email program for Windows is Windows email and for Mac OS it is iCloud. You can change these by following the instructions below, depending on the operating system you are using on your device.

Note that some of the links we added are in English. You can however write the English name in the search field to the right of the Windows start button, for example" Default apps", and it will open the correct setting even if you your computer is configured in your native language.

Desktop applications

If you want to use Outlook to send emails started from Visma Advisor, then you need to set this program as the default email application. There are two ways you can do that. Either you select Outlook as shown in the instructions below or by configuring some settings directly in Outlook.

In Outlook you also have to check the settings under Options and Mail - Send messages that the option Commas can be used to separate multiple recipients is marked as in the picture below.

Web applications

If you want to use a web e-mail program (like Gmail, Yahoo or Microsoft Outlook 365), first you need to select your favourite browser (see the instructions under Operating systems). Then you need to do some settings depending on the e-mail program and the browser you want to use.
