Automatically generated customer numbers
Under Settings - Agency settings - Other settings tab the administrator in Visma Advisor can add the setting for the feature Automatically generate customer number for new customers.
- Mark the check box under Automatically generate customer number for new customers.
- In the input field Select starting number you enter the number you wish the next customer should be given.
The next time you add a new customer the input field is prefilled with #Auto#. You do not have to do anything more than go to the next field if you just use numeric customer numbers. The customer number will be generated when you have gone through the guide and saved your new customer data.
You can skip the automatically generated suggestion by just deleting #Auto# in the input field in the New customer guide.
Series without prefix
Example: Start number is set to 100. The existing customers have customer number 100, 101 and 102. You add a new customer. The customer number will be 103.
Series with prefix and/or suffix
It is also possible to use different series for your customers. In that case each series will be updated independently of any other series. If you want to add a prefix or a suffix to the customer number you can write it in the input field when adding a customer, while keeping the #Auto# text.
Example: You add a new customer and add a prefix A in front of #Auto#. The customer number will now be A100. The next customer you add with A #Auto# will get number A101.
Example: You add a new customer and add a prefix AB in front of #Auto# and add a suffix CD. The customer number will now be AB100CD. The next customer you add with AB#Auto# CD will get the number AB101CD.
Change a starting number
You can at any time change the starting number in the Starting number field under Settings - Agency settings - Other settings tab.
The existing customers have customer number 100, 101 and 102. You change the start number under the Other settings tab to 200. If you add a new customer the customer number will be starting with 200.
You can also change a number in the customer number field in the New customer guide. Start number is set to 100. You add some customers and they will get numbers 100, 101 and 102. You add a new customer and remove the #Auto# in the customer number field in the guide and enter 1000 as customer number. The next customer you add with #Auto# again, will get the number 1001.
