Retrieve car benefit value from Skatteverket

When an employee has a new company car, you can easily retrieve the benefit value directly from Skatteverket.

You can only retrieve the car benefit value for employees with the employment type Complete.

Do the following:

  1. Select Lön Smart - Employees.
  2. Select the employee from the list and choose the tab Pay.
  3. Click on next to the Car benefit value field.
  4. Click on New company car.
  5. Choose the tax year for which you want to retrieve the information.
  1. Choose the date when the car was registered with Transportstyrelsen in the Registration date field.
  2. Enter the annual vehicle tax.

You can find the vehicle tax using the car's registration number on transportstyrelsen.se.

  1. Enter the amount for any extra equipment.
  2. Check the box Drive at least 30 000 km for work/year if the employee drives more than 30 000 km for business purposes per calendar year.

No tax adjustment decision is required from Skatteverket for this adjustment. You should check well before the end of the tax year that the business miles reach 30 000 km; otherwise, you must correct the benefit. Read more in the topic Payroll tax report corrections at Skatteverket.

  1. Click on Retrieve from Skatteverket.

In the lower part of the dialog box, the benefit value retrieved from Skatteverket is now displayed. The value can be adjusted.

  1. Select Save.
  2. Click Save again to enter the information into the employee list.

Now, the pay code 2101 - Car benefit is added under Recurring items on every payslip, and the car benefit is automatically included in each pay run.
