T2 - Earned income - hobby et c

In Year-end closing - Basis for tax return - Tax appendices, you will find T2 - Earned income - hobby et c. The T2 appendix should be used if you have had income from hobby activities, which refers to income-generating activities of a lasting or occasional nature that are not business activities.

Examples of hobby activities include handicrafts, gardening, animal breeding, equestrian sports, boat rental, beekeeping, and cultural activities.

  • If you have multiple hobby activities, you should report each activity separately on a separate form.

  • If your hobby activity shows a deficit, you do not need to declare it.

  • Typically, hobby activities are not subject to VAT, which means that costs should be reported including VAT.
