When an intermittent employee who works 100% does not have the same number of work days per week as that of a standard full-time employee, you must adjust the average weekly working hours. The adjustment is made so that the employee will get the correct number of net holiday at the end of the year.
Select the pen next to the Average weekly working hours in days field and enter the average work days per week that a full-time employment in the company normally comprises.
Example
The calculation of net holiday is usually done according to the following formula:
Actual number of work days per week / Average number of work days per week during full-time employment * Holiday entitlement in number of days = Number of net days of holiday
An intermittent employee works 100% and works 4 days per week. A full-time employment is usually 5 work days per week.
If an adjustment is not made, the calculation will be based on an average work week of 4 days. This leads to an incorrect calculation of the employee's net holiday.
4 / 4 * 25 = 25 days of net holiday
In order to get the correct net holiday, you need to adjust the average weekly work days to 5 days:
4 / 5 * 25 = 20 days of net holiday
Irregular working hours
