Add cost centres

1. Select Settings - Company settings and the Accounting settings tab.
2. Check the Use cost centres box if it is not already checked.
3. Choose Save.

You will receive a message indicating that the company settings have been changed.

Under Accounting, the heading Cost centres has now been added.

1. Select Cost centres. Three groups are now shown, of which two are inactive.
2. Click on the cogwheel of the relevant group to give it a name.
3. Select New cost unit to add a cost unit.
4. Select which cost centre the new cost unit belongs to. This if you work with more than one cost centre.
5. Fill in the Short name and Name fields.
6. Select Save.

The item is saved under the selected cost centre.

To be able to use cost centres in your accounting, the general ledger accounts must be set to allow posting to cost centres.

The accounts for costs and revenue are pre-activated for cost centres, while the accounts for assets and liabilities are not. If you want to be able to enter cost centres on the accounts for assets and liabilities, you must specify this on the respective account.

1. Select Accounting - Chart of accounts.
2. Select the account you want to be able to enter cost centres on from the chart of accounts.
3. Choose Edit.
4. Check the Allow cost centres box.
5. Choose Save.
